When Graham Arnold-s Central Coast Mariners challenge Mehmet Durakovic-s Melbourne Victory at Bluetongue Stadium this Wednesday evening, history will be made.
Not only will arguably the greatest player Australia has ever produced, Harry Kewell, attempt to pinch the points for the men from Melbourne, but Central Coast raised Matt Simon will feature for the final time for the Yellow and Navy before departing for his own overseas adventure.
Simon, a club legend, is eager to go out on a high in front of the Bluetongue Stadium faithful on Wednesday, and with a special presentation to be made to the striker before kick-off, as well as a lap of honour and other activities to honour the determined marksman planned, Wednesday-s fixture is not to be missed.
In addition, a number of Mariners players set to be involved in the match are due to make historic appearances in terms of their career.
Indeed, midfield stalwart John Hutchinson is set to make his 300th Australian National League appearance. Before joining the Mariners in 2005 (133 appearances so far) Hutchinson played at Morwell Falcons (89 appearances) and Northern Spirit (77 appearances).
Meanwhile, Mariners right back Pedj Bojic is set to make his 200th appearance in all National Leagues. Bojic previously made 3 appearances for Parramatta Power, 13 appearances for Sydney Olympic, and 97 appearances for Northampton Town in England. Bojic has made 86 Hyundai A-League appearances so far with the Mariners.
Also, attacker Troy Hearfield is set to make his 100th Hyundai A-League appearances. Hearfield has previously represented Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix.
