Academy teams in weekend Cup competitions

BOTH the Grade 11 and Grade 12 Boys Central Coast Mariners Academy Teams will this weekend be competing in two prestigious Football NSW Cups at Valentine Sports Park in Sydney.

BOTH the Grade 11 and Grade 12 Boys Central Coast Mariners Academy teams will this weekend be competing in two prestigious Football NSW Cups at Valentine Sports Park in Sydney.

In a first, the two Cups will be held concurrently at the headquarters of Football New South Wales. The Cups will be run over two weekends.

Both Academy teams have spent the year playing in the Football NSW Boys Skills Acquisition League and Skills Acquisition Program with their season now culminating in these annual tournaments.

The Grade 11 Boys will be competing for the Frank Broughton Cup while the Grade 12 Boys will be vying for the Centenary Cup.

Competition starts on Saturday 16 September with the Grade 11 Boys playing a Football NSW Skills Acquisition Team in their first game. Other teams in the Academy Boys 11’s pool include Canterbury, Manly-Warringah, Southern Districts and Western Branch.

The Grade 12 Boys first game is on Saturday afternoon where they meet Sutherland. Other teams the 12 Boys will play include Granville, Macarthur, Southern Districts and a Skills Acquisition Team.

Both teams have a weekend of football this weekend in their tournaments. Should they be successful on the weekend they will play again on Saturday 22 September in the Frank Broughton Cup and Centenary Cup Finals.
