Academy Preview: Women’s and Girl’s (April 16th)

The Central Coast Mariners Women’s and Girl’s academy sides are back this weekend, travelling away yet again to face off against Hills United FC.

It has been two consecutive perfect weekends for the Mariners Women and Girl’s, collecting the full 30 points across our previous 10 games.

The five teams will be looking to make it another hugely successful round, as they take the field at Bella Vista Public School.

First Grade vs Hills United

After securing our fourth consecutive victory in the NSW Women’s League One competition last weekend, the Mariners are back again in a top of the table clash.

Currently in second place with a game still in hand, the Central Coast face off against Hills United, who are currently one point higher, sitting in first.

The Mariners secured another comfortable win after an early scare last weekend, trailing to Marconi Stallions. The side fought back to secure the full three points, with a Chloe Smith hattrick getting the job done.

This will be the fifth consecutive match that the Mariners side will play away from home, with the only scheduled home game to date being rained out, with the team keen for a run of games at Pluim Park.

In their way of keeping the streak alive sit Hills United, who have started off their season extremely well. Three consecutive wins including a 9-0 demolition job of Inter Lions have pushed them into first place.

Scheduled to kick off at 3:45pm on Sunday, expect one of the matches of the season to date when the two sides take the field.

Under 20’s vs Hills United

Fresh off securing their second straight win with a positive 4-0 defeat of Marconi on Monday, the Mariners under 20’s women’s side are back this weekend as they look to continue their climb up the league ladder.

Currently with two games in hand on this weekend’s opponent Hills United, it will certainly be no easy feat when they face off, with the home side undefeated in 2023.

It was a controlled performance last weekend from the Mariners, with Natalie Davis scoring the team’s first in the 12th minute.

From there regular goals continued to push the Central Coast further and further in front, with the final score ending 4-0.

Hills United also grabbed their second win of the season, with two first half goals from Alyssa Timbs securing them the three points.

The match will get underway at Bella Vista Public School at 1:30pm, with the Mariners confident that they can make it three wins in a row.

Youth Girls vs Hills United

The Central Coast Mariners Youth Girl’s academy are aiming to continue their flying start to the season so far when they take on Hills United on Sunday morning.

The day will get underway with the under 14’s at 8:30am, with the side aiming to make it three consecutive wins. A 7-2 victory over Marconi last Monday pushed the team up into seventh on the competition ladder, with one game still in hand. Hills United currently sit in fourth on 10 points, losing one game so far to date.

Next up will be the under 15’s side, who are currently sitting on a perfect four wins from four matches. They are coming off the back of a 6-0 victory last weekend, currently in second place with a game in hand. Their opponents on Sunday, Hills United, also sit on 12 points, currently in third on goal difference. The game will kick off at 10am.
