Academy Preview: Men’s and Boy’s (March 11th-12th)

The Central Coast Mariners Men’s and Boy’s Academies are back this weekend, with another Sydney road trip in store. The Men’s sides scheduled to face off against Sydney FC on Sunday, with a late kick off time change just announced.

Instead of the regular 12:45pm and 3pm timeslots, the games will now get underway with the Under 20’s at 5pm. First grade will follow shortly after at 7pm.

The boys will head to the City on Saturday, facing off against Sutherland Sharks FC across the day at Seymour Shaw Synthetic.

First Grade vs Sydney FC

Fresh off the back of our first victory of the season against NWS Spirit last weekend, the Mariners NPL first grade side are back in action this Sunday.

Looking to continue the momentum, the team face off against Sydney FC in our third battle of the academies so far this season.

Both sides head into the fixture with recent good form, Sydney FC coming away with a 4-1 win over Macarthur at home last weekend.

Before that the home side had been on the end of three consecutive defeats, with the team currently sitting in 10th place with six points.

The Mariners on the other hand sit one place below in eleventh on five points, losing one less game than Sydney so far this season. With the Mariners firing since the hiring of ex-Socceroo Abbas Saad, expect an exciting contest at Valentine Park.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm on Sunday night, with the game to be streamed live and free on NPL.tv

Under 20’s vs Sydney FC

Following last weekend’s tough 3-1 loss against NWS Spirit, the Central Coast Mariners under 20’s side are looking to get back to winning ways as we face off against Sydney FC.

The Mariners currently sit on two wins from five matches, enough to see us in ninth place heading into round six.

Our opponents Sydney FC are coming off the back of a positive 1-0 victory over Bulls FC Academy last weekend, bouncing back from a 4-1 loss to Manly United.

Currently in sixth place after five rounds with three wins and nine points, this battle of the academies is shaping up to be an important one.

Two of the higher scoring teams in the competition so far this season, expect goals at Valentine Park when the match gets underway at 5pm.

Junior Boys vs Sutherland Sharks

The junior boys are back this weekend, facing off against Sutherland Sharks FC across all grades. The first match of the day will be the under 13’s scheduled to kick off at 8:30am, with both sides looking to secure their first wins of the season.

It is the same tale in the under 14’s, a win needed for both sides at Seymour Shaw Synthetic with the match set to get underway at 10:05am.

The under 15’s match looks to be a mouth-watering contest, with both sides holding the record of a perfect three wins from three matches in 2023. With a potential spot at the top of the ladder up for grabs, the match, scheduled to begin at 11:40am, is almost unmissable action.

Our under 16’s side will be keen to secure their second win of the 2023 campaign against the Sharks, looking to stay close to the top of the table. Sutherland looking to do the same, with kick-off set for 1:15pm.

The final game of the day will be the under 18’s, scheduled for a 2:45pm start. Again both teams come into the match with one win from three matches, looking to gain some momentum as the season progresses.
