The Central Coast Mariners men’s and boy’s academy sides travel away this weekend, with trips to Sydney scheduled for an action-packed Saturday of football.
Our youth boys will kick off the day with five matches against Hills United at Landen Stadium, with the under 13’s beginning at 8:30am.
The men’s sides will play later in the evening, taking on St George City in two important clashes at Penshurst Park.
First grade vs St George City
Off the back of last weekend’s tight 2-1 loss against APIA Leichhardt, the Central Coast Mariners NPL first grade side are back in action on Saturday night.
Kicking off at 7pm at Penshurst Park, the Mariners head into the game confident that a positive result is well and truly on the cards.
The Central Coast almost took the lead against APIA last weekend, narrowly missing from infront against the undefeated side.
A quick goal and some strong defence ultimately gave the away side all three points, keeping the Mariners in 15th on the ladder with five points.
In our way of climbing up the competition table is St George, who have had a strong start to their 2023 season.
After being promoted from League One last year the team have won four matches, sitting in eighth place on 15 points.
The team have grabbed two consecutive draws in the past two rounds, a nil-all draw with Bulls FC and a 2-all draw with Sydney FC.
Goals in the 86th and 90th minute denied St George the points last weekend, with the team back at home for the first time in three weeks.
Under 20’s vs St George City
Aiming to continue a four-match unbeaten streak in the under 20’s competition, the Mariners take on St George at 5pm.
It was an extremely strong performance last weekend, winning 5-1 against APIA Leichhardt at home.
Ben Dunbar, Aidan Milicevic, Zac Waddell, Jakov Malbasa and Dylan Susovic all getting on the scoreboard, rounding out a brilliant performance. The win pushed the side up to third, currently sitting on 16 competition points.
St George City are keen to bounce back from their 3-0 loss against Sydney FC, in what has been a tough season in the under 20’s competition.
Currently sitting in 14th after nine matches, they have won three games so far this season, including two of the past three.
Youth Boys vs St George City
The Central Coast Mariners youth boy’s academy is back this Saturday, travelling away to play Hills United FC at Landen Stadium.
The day will get underway at 8:30am with the under 13’s, as both sides look for important wins. Currently filling 15th and 16th place on the competition ladder, the two teams will be keen to grab some vital points as we move into the midpoint of the season.
The under 14’s will be next, with kick off scheduled for 10:05am. Currently in 7th place, Hills United will prove to be a stern challenge for the Mariners, who sit in 11th on five points.
Our under 15’s are aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the 2023 season, looking for an eighth consecutive victory. We sit in first place on goal difference, having conceded only four goals all year. Hills United are in 14th at the moment, collecting four points to date.
The under 16’s will be looking for a third consecutive win against Hills, having defeated Marconi and Mt Druitt over the last fortnight. We currently sit in eighth place with ten points, while Hills are yet to secure a point and sit in 16th. That match will get underway at 1:15pm.
The day will conclude at 3pm, with the under 18’s match promising to be an extremely close contest. Sitting in third and fourth with just two points separating the sides, expect an incredible match up.
