Ahead of the Central Coast Mariners first #F3Derby of the season Fabio Ferreira spoke about the importance of travelling support to Newcastle on Sunday.

For the first time in Hyundai A-League History, Central Coast Mariners full season Members will have access to an away fixture at McDonald Jones Stadium (formerly Hunter Stadium) and Ferreira says that your support could be enough to get them over the line against the Newcastle Jets.

Speaking after Tuesday’s training session, Ferreira said that he is hoping for a good turnout of Mariners’ supporters in Newcastle that will increase the team’s desire to win.

“The fans are expecting a lot and we want to give success to the fans, hopefully we will get a good turnout of fans to Newcastle so that we can get this result for them,” Ferreira said.

“The fans are very important and when you play with the fans around you it means a lot for us players and gives us more desire to win the game so hopefully the fans travel well and support us,” Ferreira said.

The Chelsea junior said that playing in a derby is special but there are no easy games in the Hyundai A-League.

“This Sunday is a very important game for us to win,” Ferreira said. “It’s an important three points that we want to take at all costs so hopefully we will be mentally prepared for a big game.

“The #F3Derby is a great game to play in, you want to win, you want to play well and we are going to go to Newcastle and try to take the game from them and get a win.

“Every team is strong, there are no easy games so we just have to be mentally and physically prepared for a strong game and do our best,” Ferreira said.

Our Portuguese flyer has successfully started the past four consecutive games after returning from injury and is “hanging” for a goal.

“I’m hanging for a goal, I’m craving for a goal very bad,” Ferreira said. “Obviously I try to score and create and this game is going to be no different.

“Hopefully I will start scoring some goals and creating some assist so I’ll do my best and keep playing with no injury and improve myself.

“We’ve had some good combinations but we can do much better and when we get these attacking combinations right there is certainly a potential for more goals,” Ferreira said.
