The Central Coast Mariners will return to Central Coast Stadium for the first time in over a month and Paul Okon has named his provisional squad that is set to take on Perth Glory.
It’s only Hyundai A-League Round 8 and the Central Coast Mariners will face Perth for the second time this season tomorrow night. Fans will fondly remember their round one encounter that saw the Yellow & Navy fight from three goals down to earn a point in Western Australia.
After Sunday’s #F3Derby the Mariners are up against a very short turnaround compared to the Glory who have an extra two days of preparation under their belt coming from a Friday fixture against Adelaide United.
The Mariners’ defensive stocks will still be without Jacques Faty who remains sidelined through injury as well as last week’s starting stopper Liam Rose who is suspended for one week after receiving a red card against Newcastle.
However that paves the way for 20-year-old Reece Papadimitrios to be named in Okon’s provisional 18-man-squad for extra defensive cover. Papadimitrios won the club’s Foxtel National Youth League Player of the Year plaudits last season and has started the first two games of the Club’s youth team fixtures this season.
Scott Galloway is also hoping to make a return to Okon’s side this week after recovering well from his hamstring injury that was incurred against Wellington Phoenix.
Speaking today after training, Okon also mentioned that Jacob Poscoliero is tracking well and has commenced full training with the team on his road to recovery.
