Leading into his 100th Hyundai A-League appearance, Jack Clisby reflected on a career milestone whilst paying credit to the culture created on the Central Coast. Kick-off on Sunday is 5pm against Adelaide United.

Pink Round v Adelaide Utd

After stints with Perth Glory, Melbourne City, Western Sydney Wanderers and now the Mariners, at just 26 years-of-age, 100 games in the top flight is some achievement.

The Perth-born defender reflected on the prouder moments of his career as well as talking about the tight bond formed between his teammates in Yellow & Navy.

Coastal Sea Changeā€¦
ā€œMy move to the Central Coast has been fantastic,ā€ Clisby said. ā€œThe club, the culture, itā€™s the best culture Iā€™ve felt within a playing group. Everyoneā€™s on the same level, weā€™re all a team and weā€™re all united which is what I really like about this club.

ā€œThe togetherness and culture that Mike Mulvey and Monty have instilled, everyone respects their decisions whether youā€™re playing or not playing. Everyone is fighting to get in the team, thereā€™s no bitterness and thatā€™s what you need in a squad.

ā€œI feel this is the strongest side the Mariners have had in quite some time,ā€ Clisby said. ā€œThe camaraderie throughout the group is fantastic ā€“ weā€™re a very together group and I think we will show people what we can do this year,ā€ Clisby said.

Reflecting on his 99 Hyundai A-League appearancesā€¦
ā€œFor me personally itā€™s a very proud moment that Iā€™m really looking forward to,ā€ Clisby said. ā€œIā€™m also looking very much forward to the game, Adelaide won the FFA Cup and will be on a high but after our last two performances, we head into this game full of confidence.

ā€œAfter my 90th odd game ā€“ I finally scored my first goal. When I was younger I was a prolific goal scorer at about 15 years old,ā€ Clisby laughed. ā€œBut there are many moments that stand out ā€“ especially my professional debut for Perth Glory. From that moment forward itā€™s been very quick but now Iā€™m at 100 games, Iā€™m very proud and Iā€™m sure that my family and friends are too,ā€ Clisby said.

Mariners Pink Roundā€¦
ā€œWe will be wearing the pink kits on the weekend which is fantastic and a very special occasion,ā€ Clisby said. ā€œWeā€™re all really proud as a club to be raising funds and awareness for womenā€™s cancer research.

Mariners set piece dutiesā€¦
ā€œThereā€™s a few of us in the team who can step up and take them,ā€ Clisby said. ā€œRoss hits a fantastic free-kick, as well as Mikey McGlinchey and Tommy Oar. We like to have options, we all practice and whoeverā€™s feeling confident on the day and in that time, will step up.

ā€œIā€™ve been practicing a lot more since coming to the club because I wanted to add more to my game. Set pieces, corners, free kicks, I want to keep practicing and apply that in a game situation,ā€ Clisby said.

Two games, two drawsā€¦
ā€œI think a draw was fair in Brisbane because they had many chances but the determination and way weā€™ve defended the last two games, weā€™re disappointed to concede a late equaliser,ā€ Clisby said. ā€œAgainst Melbourne City we compressed them so well and they didnā€™t have too many clear-cut chances ā€“ a scrappy goal like that goes in, itā€™s deflating but we take plenty of positives from that game.

ā€œCity have loads of quality players in their side and the way we handled it, we can be proud of that and build from that,ā€ Clisby said.
