The Central Coast Mariners Academy men’s team claimed a come-from-behind 3-1 win at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon against Blacktown Spartans. Our girls unfortunately suffered just their third loss of the season, falling 4-1 to the SD Raiders.
The men now face a busy schedule and will replay their washed-out fixture on Wednesday night against Mounties Wanderers at Cook Park.

It wasn’t the start our Mariners Academy boys wanted who conceded five minutes in when Blacktown’s Boyadjian found the back of the net early.
But a goal to the away team wouldn’t deter the Mariners attack and it was Emmanuel Peters who levelled the scores in the 22nd minute when he fired his shot into the bottom corner, sending both teams into the break on level terms.
Then, in the 53rd minute Charles William took the lead who capitalised on the end of some brilliant build up play by Josh Nisbet which saw the Mariners go 2-1 up.
The Mariners Academy commanded the second half and were able to put the score line beyond doubt with the last kick of the game when William played creator for Kyle Johnson to get his name on the scoresheet.
With a game in hand, the Mariners Academy remain in second place on the first-grade league ladder.

It was a disappointing afternoon out for the Mariners Academy women on the Central Coast who experienced just their third loss of the season.
A lone goal to Jade McAtamney wasn’t enough to claim the points at home.
The away side raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half, which they retained until the half time whistle but our girls weren’t ready to give up just yet. The Yellow & Navy fired back almost immediately in the second half to make it 2-1 thanks to a strike by McAtamney.
Although, it was the SD Raiders who claimed three points, scoring another two in the second half to earn a hard-fought win.
The result for the Mariners Academy sees them remain in second-place on the first-grade league ladder.
