The Mariners- all-time greatest goal scorer returned to form in the Korea Republic a fortnight ago and is hoping for a repeat dosage against China-s Tianjin Teda at Central Coast Stadium on Tuesday night.
Kwasnik, who tops the Mariners- goal scorers chart with 21 goals in all competitive fixtures since the club-s inception, netted twice against the Pohang Steelers last outing to cap what has been an encouraging return to Mariners colours for the former Australian youth international.
“I was very happy to score some goals for my new club, but disappointed that we didn-t get the three points, which was the most important thing,” said Kwasnik.
“We-ve now got one more game remaining in the AFC Champions League and hopefully we can come away with a win.
“We-ve got a lot of pride to play for and for the members and supporters that turn up will hopefully see a good performance – we want to get a win badly and we need it.”
Before linking with the Mariners for their maiden Asian campaign, Kwasnik enjoyed one season across the Tasman with Hyundai A-League rivals the Wellington Phoenix – a campaign that largely failed to match the lofty heights that Kwasnik had set at the Mariners.
Now back on the Central Coast and pushing for a permanent berth in the Mariners- starting eleven, Kwasnik has rediscovered his goal scoring touch and will again be aiming to find the back of the net at Central Coast Stadium on Tuesday night.
“I-ve said it plenty of times before, I-m really grateful to have been able to return here – grateful for the support of the club and of Lawrie McKinna,” said Kwasnik.
“I-m relishing the opportunity and I won-t take it for granted ever again and can-t wait for the next couple of years.”
The Mariners will return to their Central Coast Stadium home for Match Day 6 of the AFC Champions League to face the challenge of Chinese Super League heavyweights Tianjin Teda on Tuesday, 19 May. Kick off is at 8pm.
