Paul Okon has named an extended squad ahead of this Sunday’s match against Brisbane Roar and it includes two Central Coast juniors.
Rising stars from the Central Coast Mariners Academy, Steve Whyte and Lachlan Wales have been training consistently with the first team set up this season and have been named in Okon’s provisional squad ahead of Hyundai A-League Round 25.
Steve Whyte is an Entrance Bateau Bay Football Club junior whilst Lachlan Wales played his junior football with Terrigal United Football Club.
Unfortunately, Blake Powell will miss the remainder of this Hyundai A-League campaign as the exciting attacker underwent a minor procedure on his left knee, which will keep him sidelined for the next three matches.
Jacob Poscoliero will need to wait another week before returning to the pitch with a quad complaint that kept him out of action against Adelaide United.
In a blow for the Mariners midfield, Nick Montgomery received his eighth yellow card against the Reds and will this weekend serve a one match suspension that will likely see Storm Roux wear the skipper’s arm band.
