The Central Coast Mariners are delighted to announce the signing of exciting English attacker John-Kymani Gordon, who joins the Club’s A-League Men’s squad.
The 23-year-old arrives on the Central Coast with significant experience in the English football system, having developed through the highly regarded Crystal Palace Academy before building his senior career across the English Football League.
Gordon joined Crystal Palace at just eight years of age and progressed through the club’s Academy ranks, signing his first professional contract in 2020.
A versatile attacking player capable of playing across the front line, Gordon enjoyed an impressive 2022/23 campaign at development level before joining Carlisle United on loan, where he gained valuable senior experience and was part of the side that secured promotion to League One through the play-offs.
Further loan spells followed with Cambridge United and AFC Wimbledon before Gordon joined Colchester United permanently in 2024. Most recently, he spent time with Rochdale towards the end of the 2025/26 season.
Gordon has also represented England at youth international level.
Central Coast Mariners Director of Football Matt Simon said Gordon brings another exciting dimension to the Mariners squad.
“John-Kymani is a player we’re really excited to bring to the Central Coast. He’s quick, direct and comfortable playing in a number of positions across the front line, which gives us another really good option in attack.
“He’s come through a strong football environment at Crystal Palace and has already experienced a lot of senior football in England for a player who is still only 23.
“We’ve spoken a lot about bringing players into this group who are hungry and still have something to prove. John-Kymani fits that profile. He wants to come here, work hard and make an impact, and we think the Mariners is a great environment for him to take the next step in his career.”
Gordon said he is excited to begin a new chapter of his career on the Central Coast.
“I’m really excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“Coming to Australia and joining the Mariners is a completely new challenge for me, but that was a big part of what attracted me to the opportunity. I’ve had some really good experiences in England and now I want to come here, play football and show what I can bring to the team.
“I’ve heard a lot about the Mariners, the supporters and how important the club is to the local community. I’m looking forward to meeting the boys, getting out on the pitch and hopefully giving the fans plenty to be excited about.”
Gordon will link up with John Hutchinson’s squad subject to receiving the required visa-work permit, as preparations continue for the opening round of the 2026/27 A-League season and the F3 Derby at Polytec Stadium on October 17.
