Mariners sign Australian Youth representative goalkeeper Adam Pavlesic

The Central Coast Mariners are delighted to announce the signing of young Australian goalkeeper Adam Pavlesic, with the 21-year-old joining the club on a two-year deal.

Arriving from Sydney FC after a number of years at the club, Pavlesic further adds to our incredible stock of young goalkeepers.

Pavlesic has represented Australia at Youth level, making multiple appearances for the U16s and U17s, including at an U17s World Cup, and has been previously called up to the U23s.

The goalkeeper joined Sydney’s academy in 2017 and went on to win their ‘Rising Star Award’ at the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, the campaign in which he made his professional debut in the AFC Champions League against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

He was an ever-present figure in the Sydney FC match day squads throughout the 2023/24 campaign, having made his Isuzu UTE A-League debut in a Sydney Derby triumph the season prior. He ultimately made two appearances in Sky Blue last term, which ended at the Semi-Finals stage, following our 2-1 aggregate triumph.

Pavlesic adds to our impressive pool of young goalkeepers, who have all represented Australia at junior level.

The Mariners now have four of the top young goalkeepers in the country, with the likes of Jai Ajanovic (Australia U17s), Dylan Peraic-Cullen (Australia U19s), Jack Warshawsky (Australia U23s) and Pavlesic (Australia U23s).

His family name might also be familiar to Central Coast fans, with his brother Anthony previously being a Mariners scholar.

He went on to join European giants Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee in June 2023, where he is still currently a part of their youth team.

Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Mark Jackson is pleased to add another exciting young player to his squad for the 24/25 season.

“We’re delighted to have Adam joining our squad ahead of the upcoming season,” he said.

“It continues the trend of us bringing exciting young players to the club and we believe we have strong competition with all our young goalkeepers.”

“With Jai Ajanovic coming through the younger age groups, Jack Warshawsky, Dylan Peraic-Cullen and now Adam in the A-League squad, it is great to have such promising goalkeepers with us on the Coast.”

Pavlesic is thrilled to have signed with the Mariners and is excited to get started on the Coast.

“I am absolutely buzzing to be joining this great club. I have heard so many great things about the Mariners and I am so excited to be here,” Pavlesic said.

“The culture is incredible here, my brother has been here before and he said so many good things. The Mariners have been so successful in regards to both developing players and also winning trophies these last few years, I am super excited to have the opportunity to join this great club.”
