The Central Coast Mariners continued their positive pre-season with a 4-2 win over Manly United on Wednesday night, with the match being played behind closed doors at Industree Group Stadium.
Former Mariners Championship winner and current Manly coach Patrick Zwaanswijk brought his side down to the Coast for a strong 90 minutes of footballing action.
The away team featured multiple ex-Mariners, including Harry McCarthy and Bilal Belkadi, with the NPL side coming to the Central Coast before their last league game of the season.
Playing the match under fatigue from a tough pre-season training schedule in preparation for short turnarounds with the AFC Cup and A-League competitions, the Mariners proved to be too strong and created many chances through the game.
A special mention is deserved for Manly goalkeeper Levi Kaye, who made many outstanding saves throughout to thwart our attack on numerous occasions.
Alou Kuol continued to find the back of the net this pre-season with a double, while Storm Roux and Marco Tulio also found their way onto the score sheet.
The Mariners now continue their pre-season with more trial matches, as we prepare to take on Terengganu FC in our first AFC Cup match on September 20th. With new squad announcements due to come, Head Coach Nick Montgomery is very happy with how the squad is shaping up.
