Central Coast Mariners wish to publicly congratulate Hyundai A-League rivals Western Sydney Wanderers for their qualification to the 2014 AFC Champions League final overnight.

Speaking on behalf of the Club, Mariners boss Phil Moss acknowledged Western Sydney’s outstanding achievement in advancing to the final stage of Asia’s most prestigious club competition.

“On behalf of all at the Mariners I’d like to congratulate Tony (Popovic) and the Western Sydney Wanderers on qualifying for the 2014 AFC Champions League final,” Moss said.

“Having been in the AFC Champions League over the past few years with our club we appreciate the challenges this great competition poses and the difficulties encountered around logistics, as well as seasons that don’t match up.”

“To have beaten the reigning AFC Champions League winners and runners up in the quarter-final & semi-final respectively is an amazing achievement and makes Wanderers worthy of their place in the final.”

“While we remain fierce rivals in the Hyundai A-League this is a fantastic boost for Australian football, so we wish Tony & his team every success in the AFC Champions League final against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal,” Moss concluded.Â
