Central Coast Mariners can today confirm that defender Joshua Rose has inked a two-year contract extension with the Club, ensuring he will remain in yellow and navy until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.
The 33-year-old has spent the last five seasons with the Mariners after he linked with the Club back in 2010. Rose has made 147 competitive appearances for Central Coast and has found the net on eight occasions.
Rose says he is delighted to have confirmed his place on the Mariners’ roster for a further two years.
“It’s really exciting,” he said. “It secures my family and me for another two years and I am really comfortable here. I love the Central Coast.”
“The dressing room and culture here is fantastic. I love the Club and the culture, it all suits my style and I’m really happy to have extended my time with the Mariners for another two years.”
Rose admits his goals over the next few seasons will be to simply remain at full fitness and help the side as best he can.
“My main aim over the next two years will be to look at keeping myself as fit as possible and making sure I am available for selection every week. If I can do that, I think I’ll do as much as I can to help the team,” said Rose.
Central Coast boss Phil Moss says the Rockhampton-born flyer is deserving of his new deal with the men from Gosford’s idyllic bayside arena, and explained that his contract extension is testament to his effort and commitment shown at the Club.
“It’s fantastic news. He’s a big part of my plan for the team moving forward and he is a great professional. I think his performances this season have been very strong wherever he plays,” said Moss.
“I think one of the most important things about ‘Rosey’ is that he knows the philosophy of the Club, to bring some young players through, and he’s willing to help in that regard. It’s a very important piece of the jigsaw.”
“Young kids don’t develop unless they have good experience around them. The key is getting the balance right between youth and experience. He has played at a very high level and at a high intensity for a lot of years and he’s got a great football brain.”
“Rosey is great around the dressing room. I never take for granted the senior players at our club and how good they are with the dressing room and the culture. At the end of the day, it all comes down to performance, and Rosey is fully deserving of a new deal.”
Moss also hinted that Mariners fans may possibly see a new name added to the squad in the near future, but he insists any potential recruit would have to be the right fit for the Club.
“We’ve now brought in young Dejan Pandurevic as a player that we want to develop. Travis Major showed some good signs in his cameo off the bench against Melbourne City.”
“It’s now about trying to bring in a really established performer at senior football level and someone who is going to create and score goals for us.”
“We’re working towards it at the moment, whether it comes off or not time will tell, but I’m certainly not going to put a signature on paper for the sake of it,” Moss concluded.
