Central Coast Mariners Academy Senior Men’s Program have secured the Football NSW League One Premiership double following an emphatic 4-0 victory in First Grade and 6-0 in Under 20s against St George FC in at Pluim Park on the weekend.
Entering the final regular season match, the equation was simple for the Mariners. A win for the First Grade and be crowned Premiers. The young Mariners stepped up to the challenge.
The Academy has been building towards this success for the past two seasons and this year’s results are a testament to the program that is reaping rewards for the Club.
The Mariners Academy program has seen players such as Josh Nisbet, Dan Hall, Lewis Miller, Jacob Farrell, Max Balard, Harry Steele, Alou and Garang Kuol, all progress to either national youth team or Isuzu UTE A-League level.
The future looks bright for many of the young Mariners who are looking the goods and developing under the watchful eye of Head Coach Nick Montgomery.
Head of Football, Ken Schembri stated: “It is a great achievement that our Club has been promoted to NPL1. Both teams winning the Premiership adds to the joy. Developing fine young footballers has been our aim for a number of seasons and it is great to see the Club reaping the rewards of a very good development program.”
Winning the Premiership gives our lads the weekend off as they prepare for the major semi-final in two weeks time.
