The Central Coast Mariners are thrilled to announce that Tess Quilligan has signed a new two-year deal with the club, keeping the midfielder on the Coast until at least 2026.
Arriving at the Mariners at the beginning of last season on a scholarship contract, the 19-year-old made 10 appearances across her debut campaign.
This included seven starts, while also playing over 45 minutes in our dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Melbourne Victory in the elimination final.
Quilligan’s efforts last season have seen her be rewarded with her first full A-League contract, being upgraded from a scholarship on a new two-year deal.
The composed central midfielder is looking forward to her second campaign in the league, eager to build off her personal success last season.
“I am really excited to wear the yellow and navy again for the next two seasons. I loved the environment and culture of the club last season, so to be back again this year is something that I am really thrilled about,” Quilligan said.
“I have had Emily as a coach for a long time at both the Mariners and when I was younger, she is someone who has already taught me so much and I know that I will only continue to learn from her. I can’t wait for the season to start in just a few weeks’ time, to get back out on the pitch and play for the Coast.”
Central Coast Mariners Ninja A-League Head Coach Emily Husband is delighted to have the talented young midfielder signed to the club for at least the next two seasons.
“I have seen Tess develop as a footballer for a number of years, so it is really nice to be able to award her with a full A-League contract. For her to be able to continue her path of development with us will be great for everyone, exciting for her and exciting for us as she is a real talent for the future,” Husband said.
“No matter where the pressure comes from, she is someone who is able to retain the ball and is so comfortable with it. Defensively she gets herself in brilliant positions and reads the game so well, so we are excited for her to continue to grow as a footballer here on the Coast.”
