What a difference a week makes in football, from the wet and miserable night against Victory to the bright and sunny evening against Sydney FC.

You could not get two more contrasting evenings both on and off the field from the weather, to the performance and the overall atmosphere on the night.

A huge thank you to all the fans that turned out on Saturday evening for the local derby against Sydney FC.

From the warm up to the final whistle your support for the players was outstanding and went a long way to aiding the boys in a much improved performance and attaining the right result on the night.

As always the staff and the players still believe there is a lot more improvement in this team, but Saturday began to provide glimpses of the form of previous years that has seen this team achieve so much.

Prior to the game the message to the players was to react in a positive way after a below par performance the previous week by simply playing how they had practiced.

In the first half in particular we thought the team began to show the signs of progress nicely with its slick passing and strong defensive structure, and this now provides us with a solid foundation to build upon for the coming weeks.

This week we travel to Adelaide to play against a team that has played well but has not necessarily been rewarded on the points table for all their good play. However, we will go to Coopers Stadium knowing that in previous visits we have done well there.

Lastly, this week will see Andrew Clark be involved in his last game for the Mariners. Clarky has been an incredible servant to the club and should the boys require any extra motivation, you can rest assured they will be giving their very best for one of their own in the hope they can send him out a winner prior to his departure to Japan.

A huge thank you from us all Clarky and good luck in Japan.
