The Central Coast Mariners are delighted to announce that Shadeene Evans has signed a new one-year contract with the club, keeping the forward on the Coast for the upcoming Ninja A-League season.
The 23-year-old returns for her second season in Yellow and Navy, having played 12 times last campaign, featuring regularly as an impact substitute as we reached the semi-finals.
A fast and strong forward who uses both feet well, the former Young Matilda returns for her sixth season of Ninja A-League football.
Following the conclusion or our return season in the A-League Women, Evans played in the NPL NSW competition with Northern Tigers, scoring four goals in just nine appearances.
The 23-year-old is now back in pre-season training with the Mariners, and is excited for the campaign to soon get underway.
“I am so excited to be back again as a Mariner this season. Last year I really enjoyed my time and learnt so much from everyone, so it was an easy decision for me to return for my second season with the club,” Evans said.
“The new group that we have, we are working together really well already, and I just can’t wait to get out onto the pitch with them this season. Round one can’t come soon enough, seeing all our fans in the stands in yellow, it is going to be amazing.”
Central Coast Mariners Ninja A-League Head Coach Emily Husband is pleased to have Evans returning again for the 2024/25 season.
“It is great to have Shay back in for the season ahead. She is a fantastic person to have around the group, both on and off the pitch and is someone that will always give one hundred percent effort in anything she does,” Husband said.
“Shay will continue to grow and develop with us this season, she is already great off both feet, knows how we play and is extremely versatile going forward. To have someone like Shay in the team this season will be of great benefit to us in every aspect.”
