Red hot Mariners looking to continue form

Last weekend, the Mariners once again proved too strong for the Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium to claim three vital points away from home.

The last encounter between these two sides was entertaining

Now they will turn their attention to what can be one of the key matches in the league this weekend as Western United travel to Central Coast Stadium. The side from Victoria are chasing top spot while the Mariners are looking to cement their position in the top six.

This match up is sure to bring entertainment as both teams continue to score goals while leaking ones at the other end.

In their last meeting in Ballarat, Jason Cummings was the star of the show as he scored a brace and missed his chance for a hat-trick after he saw his 90th minute penalty saved by Jamie Young in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Mars Stadium.

This time around, both Cummings and Young will be involved once more and are sure to bring the best out of each other for the Coast faithful.

For this game, Nick Montgomery has a full squad to pick from after Josh Nisbet, Béni Nkololo and Moresche overcame knocks from the Jets win to be available for selection. Ruon Tongyik has also re-joined with the squad after he was absent due to personal reasons.

Speaking to media ahead of the game, Nick Montgomery was happy with the squad that he has available to him this weekend.

“The boys are good and it’s been a good week of training and we’re fully focused on a big week ahead.

“I always say, don’t just play young players to play them, play them because they deserve to play. We are always looking to scout the best young players to bring into the club with a vision that we want to turn them into first team regulars.”

Dan Hall has enjoyed a break-out season alongside Kye Rowles and loves working with Montgomery.

“I’ve played a lot more minutes than I thought I would coming into this season which I am grateful for. We look to keep building the chemistry with the rest of the back four as we finish off this season.”

For this match, Kids Go Free and Dan Hall encouraged children to get along to Central Coast Stadium to be part of the atmosphere. You can grab your kids tickets here.

With the early afternoon kick off, as 4pm rolls around, the Central Coast will be eager to see their side put in another strong performance at home in front of a vocal crowd, spoiling the Western United title charge in the process.
