The Central Coast Mariners are delighted to announce the signing of former Young Matilda Greta Kraszula for the remainder of the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season.
Arriving on the Central Coast after an almost four-year stint in the American College system with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), the midfielder returns to Australia having recently graduated, signing her first A-League deal.
A former member of the Football NSW Institute, the now 22-year-old opted to leave Australia in 2020 and enrol at VCU, having previously been a part of the Future Matildas Program.
While in the USA, Kraszula was selected for the Young Matildas in the 2022 FIFA U20’s World Cup, being a part of the 21-player squad that travelled to Costa Rica.
The midfielder featured against eventual Champions Spain in Australia’s final group stage match, playing alongside her new Mariners teammate Jessika Nash.
Following her final two years of College Football, where she started all but two of the University’s 35 games during that time period, Kraszula now returns to Australia for her first taste of Ninja A-League football.
“I am so excited to be here and am extremely grateful to be a part of this club. I’ve been on the Coast for a couple of days now and it honestly already feels like I am part of the Mariners Family,” Kraszula said.
“I have heard so many great things about Emily from everyone that I spoke to, especially about how much I would learn from her. She has welcomed me with open arms, and I look forward to working with her.
“I can’t wait to get started, put on the Yellow and Navy jersey and to see what this season brings.”
Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Emily Husband is thrilled to have signed the 22-year-old to her first Ninja A-League contract.
“I am delighted to have someone of Greta’s quality and experience join our team. She is coming off the back of a fantastic four years in the American College system and as a result of that, will bring the experience and great technical qualities that come from being in a full-time program,” Husband said.
“We see Greta as a great ball winning midfielder who also has that versatility that we look for. She can play both in the backline and the midfield which allows us to be flexible; it is really exciting to have her on the team.”
