🇦🇺 Gomez’ Green and Gold journey goes on
Already a familiar name in national team circles, Izzy Gomez returns to the Australia U23s setup for the tournament in Vietnam, following a standout season in Mariners colours and her Matildas debut in June.
Gomez bounced back after a heart-breaking end to 2024, when she was robbed of a Matildas debut due to an injury suffered in Round Four of the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season, but bounced back in style in 2025.
The 23-year-old spearheaded our finals run with five goals in the regular season before striking a 121st minute winner against Melbourne City in the semi-final second leg, and our opening goal in the Grand Final, in which she was named Player of the Match.
She was finally rewarded with her senior Matildas debut in June against Argentina, underlining her reputation as one of Australia’s brightest young midfield prospects.
💛 Rasmussen’s remarkable rise
It’s a particularly special moment for Rasmussen, her first-ever Australian national team call-up at any level, testament to her hard-work and performance at the Mariners.
Born and raised on the Central Coast, Rasmussen’s story not only inspirational but also symbolic of the player development pathway that the Mariners pride ourselves on, aiming to nurture elite, young, local talent and support them as they take on the world.
A graduate of Central Coast Sports College, one of the Mariners’ key pathway partners, Annalise has risen through the ranks of the Mariners Women’s Academy, showcasing a relentless drive and natural talent from an early age.
She etched her name in the club’s history books as the first signing of our return to the A-League Women’s competition, before introducing herself to the fans with the only goal against Wellington Phoenix at Our Paradise, sealing our first win on home soil since our return.
Rasmussen would kick-on further in 2024/25, netting six goals which saw her tied with Tiana Fuller for the club’s Golden Boot, as she became a key player in Emily Husband’s Championship-winning side.
A first U23 selection is a significant milestone, but at just 20-years-old, this is still just the start for a player who will continue to rise with every challenge.
We’ll be cheering on Izzy, Razzy, and the entire U23 Women’s side as they compete in Vietnam this August.
Congratulations and good luck, girls – we are so proud of you.
