The Central Coast Mariners Academy have continued their hot streak in the PS4 NPL 2 competition with a convincing 4-0 win over Spirit FC.

Brenton Fox scored his second hat-trick in as many weeks and now has seven goals in two games. Stewart also improved his impressive goalscoring spree for the season with a goal against Spirit.

The result at Valentine Sports Park means that Ben Cahn’s Mariners Academy have now scored 15 goals in three games, conceding zero.

Fox opened the scoring for the Mariners academy in the 15th minute thanks to an impressive solo effort. The inform attacker beat the Spirit defender on the edge of the area and fired his shot inside the far post

Fox then had his brace and doubled the Mariners lead 10 minutes later when a well worked set piece from a corner fell to a similar area to the first goal. The finish was almost a carbon copy to make it 2-0.

Cahn’s men went into the sheds with a two goal lead and had to wait until the 70th minute to extend their lead to 3-0. This time it was Stewart who found the back of the net after play was broken up in the middle of the park and a precision through ball was played by James Enticknap. With plenty still to do, Stewart rounded the keeper and slid his shot home into an early net.

With a 3-0 goal lead and 20 minutes remaining it would have been easy to take the foot off but the Mariners weren’t done. Determined to score a hat-trick, Fox capitalised on some great build up play by Tom Lyons and Charles William. After controlling the ball outside the area Fox pulled the trigger and his shot flew into the net in the dying stages.

This Sunday the Mariners Academy travel to Marconi Stadium to face league leaders, Marconi Stallions in round 14 of the PS4 NPL 2.
