The #F3Derby trial match has been made possible thanks to Maitland City Council and with the support of the Maitland Football Club.
Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper, Ben Kennedy spoke of his excitement to be taking a professional football match to Maitland.
“It’s great to bring football out to the regional areas,” Kennedy said. “Maitland has plenty of young juniors playing the game so I’m sure we will get a massive crowd and everyone will get behind it.
“This will be a good test for us to see where we’re at. We’ve been working hard this pre-season so it’s good to take on another A-League side. I grew up out here, so to be at the Mariners and a part of bringing a professional football fixture to Maitland is something special.
“The vibe at training has been great so far. There’s obviously plenty of new faces and we’re all getting to know each other but we’re working hard and everything is coming together well.
“I never thought there would be a football game here, obviously Maitland play here in the Rugby League but it’s a great facility here so hopefully we can get a big crowd and we’re happy to be a part of it,” Kennedy said.
“I feel pretty invincible at the moment. When you come through something like that, I feel like I can accomplish anything." @CoreyGameiro: The Mariners are a ‘perfect fit’ ?️ https://t.co/GsgtAVGHgF #CCMFC #ALeague pic.twitter.com/ASYqKQKbKN
