Central Coast Mariners midfielder Isabel Gomez has been awarded the PFA Player of the Month for March.
Gomez won the award back in November, the first of the 24/25 season, after a blistering start to the campaign that also saw her earn a maiden Matildas call up, only for an international debut to be cruelly denied by a knee injury that kept her out for three months.
However, she has certainly come back stronger and is playing a crucial role in the Mariners’ push for a place in the Ninja A-League Finals for a second consecutive season, earning the award again for March with four goal contributions in four games throughout the month.

The stats behind an incredible season so far
An all-action midfielder, Izzy has increased her attacking output massively with five goals and two assists in just over 800 minutes of football this season, compared to one goal and three assists in the whole of the 23/24 season.

Despite this, the defensive side of her game hasn’t dropped. Gomez still tops the Mariners stats in tackles (2.3) and interceptions (2.2) per 90 this season, whilst she had an astonishing 34 defensive actions and 26 duels won in the our March fixtures.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest talents in Australian football right now, the 22-year-old has clearly impressed her peers to win the PFA POTM Award twice, whilst she averages the highest Fotmob rating in the Ninja A-League this season.
Huge praise from Jess Nash and Emily Husband
Speaking ahead of this Friday’s crucial Ninja A-League clash against Melbourne Victory at Our Paradise, where the Mariners can lock-in a finals spot, teammate Jess Nash and Head Coach Emily Husband were both full of praise for Gomez.
“Izzy Gomez is truly incredible, she is one of the most talented footballers I’ve seen.” Nash said.
“Her being in form, really puts [the team] in form. She is scoring goals and she has turned up in big moments this season in the little time that she’s had to play.
“To hit the ground running after a pretty serious injury is credit to her. We are looking to utilise all her strengths [against Melbourne Victory.” Nash added.
“She has been a massive boost to the team, we congratulated her and we are super proud of her.” Husband said.
“For her to come back after three months with such a bang, like she never left, is impressive and speaks volume about what Gomez has in her locker.
“For me, she is an untapped talent because she has got so many qualities that I think so many players in Australia lack.
“She has to continue to develop in those areas, put her best foot forwards and get the call back up to the Matildas, because that’s where she deserves to be.
“She has got a fantastic career ahead of her, no doubt.”
Once again from everyone at the Mariners, congratulations Izzy!
