31 December 2005 – Hyundai A-League 2005/06 Round 16
It-s the final day of 2005 and for the first time in history Central Coast Mariners are hosting a Hyundai A-League New Year-s Eve fixture. With 11,612 spending the last day of the year at Bluetongue Stadium, Lawrie McKinna-s team put on a display of football excellence to silence the Jets. Andre Gumprecht got the ball rolling with an early strike, before Damien Brown doubled the Mariners- advantage before the break. In the second stanza, current Central Coast captain and #F3Derby aficionado, John Hutchinson, nets twice in the space of 11 minutes to give the Mariners a 4-0 lead. Vaughan Coveny scores an 85th minute consolation goal for Newcastle, but it-s way too little, too late for the Jets as Dicky Dosh-s men head back to the Hunter with their tails between their legs.

17 February 2006 – Hyundai A-League 2005/06 Minor Semi Final Leg 2
Less than two months after the Mariners hammered the Jets on New Year-s Eve at Bluetongue Stadium, the two teams are back at Gosford-s idyllic bayside base to clash again. Leading 1-0 from the first leg of the semi-final played in Newcastle seven days earlier, the Mariners are in pole position to advance to the preliminary final. However, Matthew Thompson-s stunning strike midway through the first half brings the Jets back into the tie. McKinna-s men are only toying with their opponents, though, and in the 79th minute of the match Dean Heffernan scores the goal that ultimately ends Newcastle-s season. Damien Brown produced a delightful cross into space behind a static Newcastle defence, with Heffernan heading firmly into the net to send the crowd of 17,429 fans into raptures.

10 February 2008 – Hyundai A-League 2007/08 Major Semi Final Leg 2
Down 2-0 following the first leg played in Newcastle a week earlier, Lawrie McKinna-s Mariners have it all to do against Newcastle if they-re too advance direct to the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 decider. 26 December 2008 – Hyundai A-League 2008/09 Round 17
Boxing Day 2008, and the Mariners were up for the fight! After going down 1-0 early to coolly converted Joel Griffiths penalty, Central Coast rally in the second stanza to earn a 2-1 win. 13 February 2011 – Hyundai A-League 2010/11 Round 30
It-s the final round of the 2010/11 regular season, and while Graham Arnold-s Mariners are on the march to the finals, the game is the last of Newcastle-s campaign as they miss out on the playoffs. Mustafa Amini and Joshua Rose combine down the left in the 90th minute, with the latter providing a perfect pass to Argentine ace Patricio Perez. The former Velez Sarsfield man taps home from close range, much to the delight of the 9,975 supporters at Bluetongue Stadium.

2 November 2013 – Hyundai A-League 2013/14 Round 4
After falling to a 2-0 deficit early in the second half, then Central Coast Mariners boss Graham Arnold outfoxes then Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond by switching from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-4-2 structure inclusive of a midfield diamond. The switch goes seemingly undetected by the Jets’ coaches, and allows the Mariners to begin to create plenty in attack. Goals from Marcos Flores and Mile Sterjovski ensure the Mariners earn a point from their visit to Hunter Stadium. Newcastle are denied their first victory over the Mariners in the last four matches between the two teams.
