Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets have claimed one win apiece in matches between the two Clubs this campaign, and will battle it out for the 29th time in A-League history this weekend.
Last round, Central Coast Mariners produced a polished second half display to secure a 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory at Aurora Stadium, Launceston. The A-League-s top goalscorer, Daniel McBreen, netted his 13th goal of the season in the contest.
Meanwhile at Hunter Stadium, Ryan Griffiths scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle won their first match since round 12 over Brisbane Roar.
Central Coast will be aiming for their seventh consecutive home win in the clash. On only one other occasion has a team won more than seven home games in a row, that being Melbourne Victory (eight) in the 2008/09 Hyundai A-League season.
Saturday-s F3 Derby fixture is proudly supported by Central Coast Mariners major sponsor, Masterfoods. In addition to the regular Masterfoods blimp and inflatable sauce bottles promoting the company at Mariners matches, Masterfoods have supplied hundreds of sauce bottle shaped thundersticks to help boost the unique derby atmosphere.
Hyundai Goals for Grassroots will also be taking place this Saturday, with the Mariners taking aim for Terrigal United Football Club. A minimum $1,000 will be donated to Terrigal United FC from Hyundai.
And, the Mariners will make a special pre-match presentation to Michael McGlinchey who made his 100th Hyundai A-League appearance for the yellow and navy against Melbourne Victory last weekend.
