Ace Central Coast Mariners attacker Mitchell Duke scored his first goal for the Socceroos in just his second appearance for Australia-s senior men-s national team overnight.

Duke-s goal came in a 3-2 loss against Japan at the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup.

Australia were down 2-0 when Duke struck with 14 minutes to play.

Melbourne Victory midfielder Mitch Nichols looped a ball over the Japan defence, allowing Duke to run and finish low beyond the Samurai Blue-s custodian Shuichi Gonda.

Western Sydney Wanderers striker Tomi Juric levelled the scores at 2-2 shortly after Duke-s goal, however Yuya Osaka struck his second of the night with ten minutes remaining to ensure Alberto Zaccheroni-s team moved to the top of the EAFF East Asian Cup standings.

Duke’s Mariners teammate, Trent Sainsbury, remained on the bench against Japan and will hope to make his international against China in Australia’s final match of the tournament.
