Football coaches from across the state have been invited to an audience with the Central Coast Mariners- coaching staff at the inaugural Mariners High Performance Coach Education Conference in mid-October.
The first ever Mariners High Performance Coach Education Conference, which will be staged on the Central Coast on Saturday, 11 October and Sunday, 12 October gives all football coaches a chance to rub shoulders and learn from the Mariners- record breaking coaching contingent.
Football Manager Lawrie McKinna and Head Coach Ian Ferguson will present their thoughts on management, while Development Manager and legend Qantas Socceroo Alex Tobin will outline the clubs- youth development and talent identification structures.
Mariners defender and Strength & Conditioning Coach Andrew Clark will also host a workshop on the fitness elements of professional football, while all participants will attend a Mariners Hyundai A-League training session and National Youth League fixture.
Admission to the two-day conference costs just $250, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided on each day, in addition to a polo shirt, cap, bag and pen for all coaches that attend.
“This conference, which is a further component of our ambition to become the centre of excellence for football in Australia, presents an unparalleled opportunity for aspirant coaches to see just what it takes to make the top grade in Australian football,” said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.
“Our coaching staff is the envy of each of our Hyundai A-League rivals, not simply because of the results that they have achieved together for the Mariners since our inception, but also because of the priceless and rare experiences that each of them can draw upon.
“We invite all coaches to this truly unique event, whether they are coaching their son or daughters team at a local level, whether they have ambitions to achieve at an elite level in the coaching realm or whether they are simply interested to learn from the best in the business.”
Indeed, the combined Mariners coaching line up is among the most experienced in Australian football and perhaps all of Asia and the world.
Between McKinna, Rangers Hall of Fame inductee Ferguson and iconic Australian sportsman Tobin, well over 1,000 appearances have been made at domestic and international levels throughout each of the playing careers of the aforementioned.
Football Manager McKinna is one of only a handful of Australian coaches to have won dual Coach of the Year titles in either the National Soccer League or the Hyundai A-League and lists the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 Premiership as his greatest accolade, in addition to being the only coach to lead a Hyundai A-League club to two Grand Finals.
