Just two days away from the beginning of our Ninja A-League campaign, which kicks off on Saturday afternoon at home against Sydney FC, Mariners Head Coach Emily Husband has confirmed her current squad for the upcoming season.
20 players are currently signed leading into round one, with eleven returning faces and nine exciting new signings ready to take on the Ninja A-League proudly wearing Mariners colours.
Returning Players
Heading into the new campaign, Emily Husband has ensured that a number of players from our 23/24 squad are back for the upcoming season.
Sarah Langman, Annabel Martin and Bianca Galic all come back to the Coast for the second season of their two-year contracts, while Husband has also locked down a number of other returnees.
Under 23’s Australian representatives Isabel Gomez and Peta Trimis, local academy graduate Annalise Rasmussen, Taren King and Tess Quilligan have all signed new two-year contracts, while Ash Irwin, Shay Evans and Chloe Carmichael all put pen to paper on new deals.
New Mariners
Heading into the upcoming season, Emily Husband has brought a number of exciting players to your Central Coast Mariners, from both Australia and also overseas.
American defender Brianne Riley, as well as English forwards Jade Pennock and Brooke Nunn are our VISA players for the upcoming season, all bringing something new to our team.
Pennock arrives to the Coast just 18 months after winning the English Women’s Championship Player of the Year award, while Nunn joins us fresh off an exciting European career that has lasted over a decade and includes two English Super League titles.
Promising American Brianne Riley lands in Gosford following her recent first steps into Professional football after a glistening College career, that included an NCAA title with UCLA.
Matildas duo Jessika Nash and Taylor Ray have joined the club from Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC respectively, while former Mariners Academy member Leia Puxty arrives on the Coast from our F3 rivals Newcastle.
Husband has handed scholarship contracts to both Lily McMahon and Tiana Fuller, with the pair preparing for their first season in the A-League. Former Mariners Academy member McMahon joins fresh off captaining Northern Tigers to the Sapphire Cup title, having been named in the NPL NSW Team of the Year.
Fuller, just 16-years-old, is a current Junior Matilda, and is coming off of a breakout first NPL NSW campaign as she arrives at the Mariners.
We are excited to announce that the Mariners have also signed former Young Matildas goalkeeper Teresa Morrissey for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old, who becomes a Coastie after winning the NPL NSW Women’s goalkeeper of the year award with Macarthur Rams, returns to the Ninja A-League having most recently been at Western Sydney Wanderers.
