Central Coast Mariners will take on Chinese heavyweights Beijing Guoan in the group stage of the 2014 AFC Champions League this season, after Gregorio Manzano’s men defeated Thai side Chonburi FC 4-0 in China overnight.

The comprehensive victory for Beijing at the Workers Stadium ensured the ‘Imperial Guard- will join the Mariners, FC Seoul, and Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Group F of Asia-s premier club competition.

Ecuadorian midfielder Joffre Guerrón scored twice in Beijing-s triumph in the Chinese capital, before Nigerian attacker Peter Utaka made it 3-0 before half time. Second half substitute Shao Jiayi rounded out the scoring Beijing a minute from time.

Central Coast Mariners will take on Beijing Guoan on matchdays 3 and 4, with the yellow and navy travelling to China for the first game on 19 March, before hosting Manzano-s side in Gosford on 1 April.
