Match details have been confirmed for the Australia Cup Round of 32 clash with Sydney FC as the 2022/23 season gets underway for the Central Coast Mariners.
2022 heralded a new era for Australia’s largest national knockout football competition, with the tournament being renamed to become the Australia Cup from the FFA Cup.
This was to both reflect the nationwide nature of the competition and acknowledge Australian football’s storied past – where from 1962 to 1968, the original Australia Cup was contested between leading state league teams of the time.
The Mariners are back in the Round of 32 after an impressive FFA Cup run last season culminating in their Grand Final Appearance which was their first appearance in a major final in nine years.
After an impressive cup run which saw the Mariners go all the way to the final, the Central Coast will be looking to go one better as they look to hold aloft their first piece of silverware under Head Coach Nick Montgomery. Their first obstacle will be Steve Corica’s Sydney FC at Leichhardt Oval on the 31st of July, kicking off at 4pm.
