Central Coast Mariners are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced Goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, who returns to his boyhood club fifteen years after departing.
Redders needs no introduction, with over 300 career appearances and five A-League titles to his name, he has established himself as one of the most legendary figures in Australian football.
Arriving back on the Central Coast, Redmayne is back where his story began. Born and bred in Gosford, he made his A-League debut for the Mariners in 2008 before departing for Brisbane Roar in 2010.
There he would win his first A-League Premiership and two A-League Championships as Roar went back to back in 2010/11 and 2011/12 under Ange Postecoglou.
Redmayne then had three years with Melbourne City and two years at Western Sydney Wanderers before landing at Sydney FC where he has enjoyed the last eight seasons, winning a further three A-League Championships and Premierships.
On the International stage, Redmayne has represented Australia at youth level through to the Socceroos, the most notable of his four senior caps saw him secure our place at the 2022 World Cup with an iconic penalty shootout save against Peru.
Upon arriving back on the Coast, Redmayne believes he still has plenty to give and wants to be part of success with the Mariners. He will add valuable experience to Mark Jackson’s young team and is excited to get to work.
“I’m ecstatic, it’s almost a fairytale moment, coming full circle. I’m really looking forward to getting on the pitch and re-immersing myself in Central Coast life.” Redmayne said.
“I’ve got a lot of connections here with the likes of Vuka and Simmo, the roots of the Central Coast family run deep. My family is still here where I was born, just around the corner, so it’s quite a strong connection and once the phone call came it was a no brainer.”
