It was Mariners Derby Day on Sunday at Pluim Park that saw the Central Coast Mariners Academy and North Shore Mariners play out a 0-0 draw on the Central Coast.

Central Coast Mariners 0 North Shore Mariners 0

The first chance of the game fell to the home side when Lachlan Wales found himself in behind the North Shore defence. Wales’ shot was smartly saved by the North Shore keeper who went down to his right and kept the game on level terms.

The next chance fell to the North Shore Mariners who found themselves in a good position on the top of the 18-yard-box.

The North Shore attacker fired off his shot that looked bound for the top corner but Adam Pearce made an incredible full stretched save and tipped the ball over the crossbar.

In the 34th minute the Central Coast went close to taking the lead after a free kick from Reece Papadimitrios that forced the North Shore Keeper into an impressive save.

The first real chance of the second half fell to Central Coast in the 62nd minute when a great through ball from Papadimitrios found Wales in a wide area just inside the box. Wales pulled the trigger but sent his shot across the face of goal.

Both sides fought hard but couldn’t find a way to break the deadlock in a close second half, seeing the second installment of the Academy derby finish as a stalemate.
