Academy Preview: Men’s and Boy’s (1st-2nd April)

The Central Coast Mariners Men’s and Boy’s academies are back this weekend, set to face off against APIA Leichhardt and Mt Druitt Town Rangers across the different grades.

This weekend will be a special one for the NPL first grade side, with their match against APIA set to take place on Industree Group Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:45pm, shortly after our A-League match against Brisbane concludes.

First grade vs APIA Leichhardt

Coming off the back of a tough 3-0 loss away to Wollongong last weekend, the Mariners are looking to bounce back quickly in the NPL men’s first grade competition.

It was an even start to the contest, with the Mariners having the better of the opening chances.

A goal on either side of the break and a late sealer secured the three points for the home side.

While we are currently sitting in 15th on the ladder, the side remain just a win outside eleventh place, with a positive result this weekend likely to see us move upwards.

With a big home crowd expected to stay back and support the side after the A-League match, the team are ready to put in a positive performance.

In their way stand APIA Leichhardt, who currently sit second on the NPL NSW first grade ladder after eight matches.

They remain the only undefeated side in the competition so far, however they have picked up four draws.

This includes a 2-all result against Western Sydney Wanderers academy last weekend, conceding in the final minutes.

Tickets to the match can be bought HERE, with kick off scheduled for 7:45pm at Our Paradise.

Under 20’s vs APIA Leichhardt

Fresh from an extremely entertaining match against Wollongong that saw six second half goals in a 3-all draw, the Mariners under 20’s side are back in action this weekend.

They come up against APIA Leichhardt at Pluim Park at 11am on Saturday, aiming to get back in the winner’s column as we pressure the league leaders.

Currently in fifth place on 13 points, the team are on a three-game unbeaten streak, sitting four points behind first place Marconi Stallions.

Our opponents APIA are currently two places lower in seventh, aiming to climb their way up the ladder.

Expect a tight match on Saturday, with both sides looking to challenge the top teams in the competition.

Youth Boys vs Mt Druitt Town

The Youth Boys are back at home this weekend, having travelled away to Marconi last Saturday. Set to face off against Mt Druitt on Saturday at Pluim Park, all five sides are looking for positive results as we enter the main section of the competition.

Off the back of a few tough results, the under 13’s are looking to get into some form when they face eleventh placed Rangers. Their game kicks off at 8:30am on field two.

The under 14’s are also looking to get back to winning ways, with their game scheduled to begin at 10:05am. They play Mt Druitt, who are currently in eighth, just three points above our side.

Next up will be the under 15’s, who are looking to continue their perfect six from six start to the season. The Rangers currently sit in last without a point in this division, with our boy’s keen to solidify first place when play starts at 11:40am.

The under 16’s get underway at 1:15pm, aiming to keep the momentum rolling from last weekend’s big win. Mt Druitt also currently sits without a point in this division, with the Mariners keen to make it two wins in a row.

The final match of the day will be the under 18’s, with the Mariners aiming to keep in touch with the top of the league. Currently in fourth place, they come up against 13th place Rangers at 3pm.
