19. Matt Simon
Matt Simon

One of the more electrifying local talents unearthed by the Mariners since the clubs inception, former East Gosford and Wyoming player Simon is as authentic an underdog story as there is in the Hyundai A-League. When the Mariners kicked off their inaugural campaign, Simon was an amateur playing in the local Central Coast Premier League. But since being given his chance to train with the Yellow and Navy, Simon took the opportunity with both hands, and has gone on to score 21 goals in 75 matches for the club. Simon's rapid rise to the top was complete when he became a Qantas Socceroo in a scoreless draw with Indonesia in January 2009.
